Web Design Assignment Reflection Working on the Web Design assignment equipped me with a range of new skills, particularly in applying key design principles such as balance, contrast, and hierarchy. I focused on balance by ensuring that visual elements were evenly distributed across the page, creating a harmonious look. For contrast, I selected a bold color palette, using dark text on a light background to enhance readability and draw attention to important sections. I also employed visual hierarchy by organizing content with headings, subheadings, and bullet points, which helped guide the viewer's eye through the information smoothly. Overall, I appreciated the creative freedom of the project, though I found the technical aspects, such as coding and troubleshooting, somewhat challenging. These website design skills will be invaluable in my future career, allowing me to create user-friendly interfaces and engaging online content that can enhance communication and learning. Creati...

Experience with Blogging      Blogging has been a rewarding yet challenging experience for me. I enjoy the creative freedom it offers, allowing me to express my thoughts and ideas in a structured way. However, I sometimes struggle with consistency and finding the right audience for my content, which can be disheartening. Throughout this process, I've learned the importance of engaging with readers and using feedback to improve my writing, as well as the value of maintaining a regular posting schedule. Interesting Web 2.0 Tool      One Web 2.0 tool I find intriguing is Flipgrid, a video discussion platform that allows users to share short video responses on various topics. This tool promotes interactive learning by enabling students to express their ideas verbally, which can enhance communication skills and foster a sense of community. I appreciate how it provides a more personal touch compared to traditional text-based discussions, making it ideal for...

Florida Standards and Technology One of the Florida Standards that incorporates technology is the Computer Science standard related to digital literacy, specifically focusing on students’ ability to use technology effectively and responsibly. This standard emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a digital environment, encouraging students to create, communicate, and collaborate using technology. In my current role, I feel somewhat prepared to implement this standard because I have a foundational understanding of various digital tools and their applications in education. However, I recognize the need for ongoing professional development to deepen my knowledge and enhance my ability to teach these skills effectively. CPALMS Educator Toolkit Resource While exploring the CPALMS Educator Toolkit, I found a lesson plan that aligns with the Computer Science standard about coding and programming for fifth graders. This lesson incorporates hands-on activities using a bl...

Copyright and Fair Use As a teacher, understanding copyright and fair use is essential for creating a respectful and legally compliant classroom environment. When developing instructional materials, I would ensure that I properly attribute sources and utilize resources that fall under fair use, such as transformative works or materials used for educational purposes. Encouraging students to create their own works involves educating them about these concepts so they can responsibly use existing media and appreciate the importance of originality. I’ve learned that fair use is often more flexible than I realized, but I still have questions about its boundaries, particularly regarding digital content. My concern lies in balancing creativity and legal compliance in an increasingly digital landscape. Technology Implementation Issues One pressing issue in technology implementation is academic dishonesty, especially with the rise of easy access to information online. To combat this, I wou...

Kaylee Mildenberger   Introduction to Educational Technology   Professor Shiyao Wei   10 September 2024     1. In my whole educational career, I never used Microsoft Word! It has never been a requirement for me to use it , so it is very new to me. I have always reached for Google Docs if I ever needed to type a paper, notes, etc. Google Docs is not necessarily a “ preference ” for me, but more of just something I have only used. Microsoft word, overall, seems to be the same as Google Docs. I like both and think Microsoft work might have more to offer!     2. The ISTE Standards for Educators emphasize the critical role of collaboration in enhancing educational outcomes, with the "2.4 Collaborator" standard being particularly impactful. This standard encourages educators to work closely with colleagues and students, using collaborative tools to share ideas, solve problems, and foster a diverse learning environment. It underscores the importa...
